Beehive States is a study of the influence of environmental sound associations through the honey bee’s wingbeat. A honey bee flaps its wings at a rate of a million times per second and within that split second, those who can hear may react in fear and assume danger. By activating conscious listening and observing, there’s a space to reflect before disrupting a pollinator’s flight path instead of thinking it is a buzzy alarm. Each woodblock print represents different mental states stemming from the influence of sound, such as the random thinking state to the concentration state. #BeehiveStates
